AI Consulting in Michigan

AI consulting for organizations
that already have the data.

Most AI projects do not fail on the model. They fail because the data underneath was never connected, defined, or trusted. Solomon Research & Analytics is a Michigan AI consulting firm that starts there: an honest assessment of where your data stands, a roadmap for the two or three uses of AI that are worth your money, and the infrastructure to make them work.

What We Mean by AI Consulting

Foundation first. Then the parts of AI that actually pay.

Plenty of firms will sell you an AI strategy deck. Fewer will tell you that your ERP, your quality spreadsheet, and your student information system do not agree on the same numbers, and that no model fixes that. We will, because we are the ones who would have to build on it.

Our AI consulting work is built around one question: what would it take for AI to run on data you trust? Sometimes the answer is a short readiness assessment and a clear "not yet." Sometimes it is a full infrastructure build. Either way, you get a straight answer before you spend on tools.

  • A plain-language verdict on what AI can run on today, and what it cannot
  • A roadmap that names the uses worth pursuing and the ones to skip
  • Data pipelines, governance, and infrastructure that hold up in production
  • Private deployment options for data that cannot leave your environment

Governed data first.
A model that is constrained, not trusted.

The field spent 2026 arriving at the architecture we already build: a curated data layer with the metric logic defined once, a model that reads from it rather than guessing, and a person who signs off before anything takes effect. These are the rules every AI build of ours follows.

One definition per metric

Metric logic lives in the warehouse, held as code with automated checks on every change. Dashboards and AI both read it. Nothing is defined twice.

Grounded querying, never free-form SQL

A model answers questions through curated views and defined measures exposed as tools. When a question is out of scope, it says so instead of returning a plausible wrong number.

Confidence gates on documents

Extraction from orders, drawings, and forms carries a confidence score on every field. Low-confidence items route to a review queue rather than into your system of record.

Permissions filtered before retrieval

Customer, contract, and privacy tags sit on every record. The filter runs before the model sees anything, every answer carries a citation, and a refusal test suite proves a user cannot assemble an answer from material they may not see.

An evaluation that runs after every change

A question bank with expected answers, privacy probes, and human-checked samples, committed to files and run before and after any prompt, model, or hosting change. Zero untraceable statistics is the acceptance criterion.

A person signs off

Review and drafting workflows end with a human approval step and an audit trail of who did what. Generation can run as a hosted call; staging, indexing, and the applications can stay inside your environment.

Who We Serve

AI consulting for the organizations Michigan runs on.

We are based in the Lansing area and work with clients across Michigan and nationally. Three kinds of organizations make up most of our AI work.

01

Manufacturers

Mid-size plants where production, quality, scheduling, and job costing sit in separate systems. We connect them first, then help you judge where AI on the floor and in the office is worth the spend.

02

Charter School Authorizers

Accountability offices with years of school performance data and a renewal calendar that does not wait. We build the reporting foundation, then the AI-assisted analysis that speeds up the work without weakening the defensibility.

03

Education Agencies

ISDs and districts with more data than hours to use it. We consolidate assessment, program, and operational data so leadership questions get answered, and so AI tools have something reliable to work from.

From first call to a working system,
with no surprises in between.

1. A casual phone call

Thirty minutes to understand what you are trying to do and what data you have. If AI is not the right answer, or we are not the right firm, we say so on that call.

2. Readiness assessment

A three-week, $7,500 fixed-fee review of your systems and data quality. You get a written verdict on what AI can run on today and what needs to change first.

3. Roadmap and scope

The uses worth pursuing, in order, each tied to the data work it depends on. Every phase is quoted before it starts, so the investment is never a guess.

4. Build, hand off, support

We build the infrastructure, document it, and train your team to run it without us. Then we stay on for support after delivery, two weeks at minimum.

What organizations ask us
about AI consulting.

What does AI consulting from Solomon Research & Analytics actually include?

Three things, in the order your organization needs them. An AI readiness assessment that tells you plainly where your data stands. A strategy and roadmap that names the two or three uses of AI worth pursuing and the ones that are not. And, when you are ready, the implementation: the pipelines, governance, and infrastructure that make those uses work on real data.

Do you only work with organizations in Michigan?

No. We are based in the Lansing area and much of our work is with Michigan manufacturers and Michigan education organizations, but we work remotely with clients nationally. Being in the same state is convenient for on-site kickoffs and plant walks; it is not a requirement.

Do we need to be "ready for AI" before we call you?

No. Most organizations that call us are not, and finding that out early is the point. If your data lives in separate systems, spreadsheets, and one person's head, an honest assessment saves you from paying for an AI tool that has nothing reliable to run on.

What does an AI consulting engagement cost?

It depends on scope, and you will know the number before any work begins. Readiness assessments are fixed-price and short. Strategy and implementation work is quoted as a project with defined deliverables. There are no vague retainers and no surprise invoices.

Which AI tools and platforms do you work with?

Whichever fit your data and your constraints. We work across the major BI platforms and cloud data stacks, and both hosted and private large language model deployments for organizations that cannot send data outside their own environment. We do not resell software, so the recommendation is not tied to a commission.

Who does the work?

You work directly with the consultants doing the analysis, from scoping through delivery. There are no account managers in between.
